New authors & reading tools to explore + Day 19 Freebies!

You all have recommended what seems to be a fabulous list of authors for me to explore – yay! So far I've added Gene Stratton Porter, Bodie Thoene, Gilbert Morris, James Mitchner and William P. Young to my list to check out.

Also my Facebook friend Charyl mentioned the book trading site www.PaperbackSwap.com. Apparently you list books you are willing to mail out at the cost of media post rate, you get credits and then you can ask for books to be sent to you. Have any of you used that service? I'll probably be checking that out as well!

A couple of you mentioned that you're also Margaret Atwood fans and I want to share with you the poem that opens The Year of the Flood:

The Garden

Who is it tends the garden, the garden oh so green,
twas once the finest garden that ever has been seen.
And in it God's dear creatures did swim and fly and play,
but then came greedy spoilers and killed them all away.
And all the trees that flourished and gave us wholesome fruit,
by waves of sand are buried both leaf and branch and root.
And all the shining water is turned to slime and mire,
and all the feathered birds so bright have ceased their joyful choir.
Oh garden, oh my garden I'll mourn forever more,
until the Gardeners arise and you to life restore.

I just love it!

Thank you for sharing your talents with us. This kit is adorable and you thought of everything (about reading). Thanks! Karen B.

In my comment on your previous post, I forgot to mention that Gene Stratton Porter books were written in the early 1900's. Her most famous books were "Girl of the Limberlost," "Freckles," and "Laddie, a True Blue Story," (about a dog). I just finished "Daughter of the Land" and am now reading "Harvester." BUT you probably won't find them in audio books!

Lovin your Bookworm kit! Thanks so much for the freebies!

Thank you so much for the bonus! All the little added bonus are what makes this kit the most fabulous for bookworms like you and I!! I love it! Thanks again. Vicki

Thanks!! "Girl of the Limberlost" is the one I added to my reading list to find first, but no, I haven't found it in audio yet. I'll look for it on my trip to Half Price Books though!

Thanks sooo much for the gorgeous kitbits! I'm so upset I didn't find this download a day till day 20! lol At least i get the rest of goodies, and your generous extras. I'm about a 2000 page a week reader (yeah, i'm disabled and stuck at home so I've got waaaay too much time on my hands!) so scrapping what i'm reading is a fantastic idea!

Btw, as you're clearly a lover of the printed word…have you ever looked at book sculptures? I am DETERMINED to learn how to do this! lol

OMGOSH THAT IS BRILLIANT!!! I love it! I am SO gonna have to learn to do that, too. Thanks so much for sharing that…it's completely fabulous.

Since I work at home on the computer I probably read about that much, too, most weeks. It's hard for me to gauge how many pages it truly is since I prefer audio books, but multiplying it all out that seems about right. I've always loved to read since I was very young, but I hardly ever found time to read anymore until I started using audio books. There's nothing like a good story! 🙂

Yes, you can generally pick up old DAD's in the boutique after the month has ended. Book Worm (my part at least) will be in my boutique starting Apr 1 with a mini kit for each day. The 1st week of April all the minis will be on sale for $1/ea so you can pick up any parts you missed. I have several previous DAD's in my shop right now: Any Given Day, Hearts a Fire, Holiday Madness & Home Grown. If each day is substantial enough I'll make them ea a $2 coordinated mini kit. If not it's packaged up a full scrap kit, and either way the entire thing is always $5 no matter how much I've packed in there 😉

Thank you so much for this great bonus freebie. Sadly, I missed Day 19, so your kindness helps out a lot!
